  1. Welcome Jemma! This is a wonderful and healing community. It's been so helpful for me over the years. Looking forward to getting to know you
  2. Welcome, Natalie! I have found this site to be so very welcoming and supportive. We all have some understanding of what you've been through, and that is so very comforting to find (at least it was for me). I always felt very, very alone in this struggle until I found AS and other sites like it. I'm glad you're here
  3. Hi Hayatee Welcome to AS. It's a very welcoming and safe place. Just coming here is a great first step. We're all here for you when and if you're ready to share more. I think for most of us it's just such a relief to find others out there who truly understand what we've gone through. Aimee
  4. It sounds like you're definitely taking the steps you need in order to heal. It never goes away, but it usually gets better. I like to think of it like watching the tide roll in...there's highs and lows, and sometimes the wave crashes. But it keeps on going. Remember all the positives you have in your life--they'll help you through the "crashes". It's too bad you have such a long wait for the counselor, but that's a good step too. You're so strong just for sharing and reaching out. We're all here with you
  5. Welcome, Manda. I'm so sorry you had to go through what you did. I'm sure you'll find lots of comfort and support here at AS.
  6. Welcom, Louise! I felt the same way when I found AS. It was like I could breathe again, so relieved to find out there were people out there who could understand me! I hope you find comfort and support
  7. I think that once you start telling the emotions instead of just the straight facts of the matter, it becomes much more real and intense. That is when the pain comes in, with the emotions. I think it's probably very normal to have that disconnect when dealing with something so traumatic. You open up in layers, little by little. Welcome to AS It's a very comforting and supportive place.
  8. Hi Alexander I'm so glad you're not ignoring this. I ignored my issues for many, many years and it only hurt me more. I think you'll find this a very welcoming and supportive place. I just found it a month or two ago and it's been a lifeline. I thought I was all alone in this situation. Then I saw there were something like 28,000 members. Which just amazed me. First, because that's horrible that there are so many. But more importantly, there are so many caring people who truly understand what we've been through. Welcome, and I hope you find some peace.
  9. I'm so glad something I wrote gave you some comfort I always wonder how in the world I'm not "over it" after so many years. Is there ever an end? I don't think so, but I'm trying to get there. Hugs to you
  10. When you click on your profile name, there's a section that says "my content". Anytime you make a comment on a thread, it shows up there. Also, you can "follow" a topic, and that shows up in "content I follow". That's what I do.
  11. Welcome itsanewday and ladyxiang! This is a great site. I hope you find lots of support and encouragement here
