Starting Recovery

Hello to everybody!

I never thought much of "self-help" books or groups or similar offers, but I recently started to wonder if some of the problems I face in daily life are because of my background as a survivor of child abuse. For lots of years I told myself that it wasn't that horrible and that I am okay - that at some point it was my fault. I am starting for some months now to question those assumptions.

I hope to find here some answers and a helpful community, who might be understanding what's up with me - maybe better than I do currently.

Welcome to AS. I am so sorry for the trauma that you endured, please know that it definitely is NOT your fault. Guilt and self-blame is a common with survivors, but blame goes solely to the abuser, not the abused. My hope is that you come to believe that. You will find this site has many understanding and supportive members. I wish you well on your healing journey.
