Holding My Breath

Recommended Posts

I am a survivor of sexual abuse by a neighborhood police officer. I was twelve and he made my familys life a living hell until I backed off. It actually took me twentyfive years to start realizing why I was self destructive. I want to be able to teach my daughter the dangers of sexual abuse that my mother didn't teach me without scaring her to death. Laureen

Hey Laureen,

Welcome to AfterSilence

I am sorry for the trauma that you experienced at the hands of your local police officer, someone who is ment to protect people, not hurt them, please know that it wasn't your fault and I am glad that you have come here to AfterSilence to gain some support for what you have experienced

Educating our children about the threat of sexual abuse and violence is a very good thing for a parent to do, and I think you're very wise for doing this, I hope that you find some of the resources available on this site helpful in doing this

I look forward to having you here, and getting to know you more, and please feel free to PM me anytime :)
