cl0v3r
My name is Clover I was recommended this after texting with an SA crisis line. I wasn't in danger or anything just don't know how to navigate this trauma. I have a therapist and got started on some medication but I think outside of those things I just need people who get it. So I'm trying this out. A book I liked that helped me feel understood was Dear Medusa by Olivia Cole. Do you have any media that helps you feel seen? Link to post

MeBeMary
Hi Clover and welcome. I am very sorry that you've experienced trauma. In was unfair and undeserved. I am glad we were recommended and home you find this a safe and healing place that many of us do. I am glad you are no longer in a dangerous situation. You are also among friends here and you are not alone. I must admit that this was my first place to feel understood. I am admittingly bias, but it's also true. I found this community when I was at my lowest. I had no one to speak to about what happened and I felt completely and utterly alone, in addition to feeling like I was the only one. Statistics weren't real. I was a freak. When I realized that I was not the only one and having kindness and validation expressed to me, it was a game changer. This community saved me in more ways that I could ever explain. It does mean so much when others understand and relate. I hope you find something similar to that here. I have not read Dear Madusa, but it sounds as it is a helpful book. If you are looking for other recommendations, I found a free workbook online a few years ago and shared it in our public resources' forum, if you are interested in taking a look. It's called Resurrection After Rape, by Matt Atkinson. It has information, stories, and exercises. No obligation to use it, just a suggestion to take a free look. Click here: Free E-Book: Resurrection After Rape - Public: Resources - After Silence Once again, welcome to the community. I wish you many steps forward on this path we call healing. awi
Welcome to this safe place of healing. So glad you found us. I am sorry for what you have endured. The blame and shame is on perpetrators. Nothing bad that has happened has ever be your fault. Many people here can relate to your words. You are seen and believed. You matter. It gets better. Sitting with you and keeping you company during this part of your journey Link to post
Belle20
Hi @cl0v3r I am glad you made it here. But I am also sorry that you had a reason to come. Like you I am fairly new, and I am a bit unsure how to navigate properly. But it brings good feelings seeing that people seem to understand, and that they are so friendly. I have spent a lot of time just reading here. I hope you will find some comfort in knowing that there are people like this. Belle Link to post
missfrier
Dear clov3r Welcome to After Silence!! I'm sorry for what you have been through. I find it is easier to talk on forums then out loud. Being here has helped me so much, even from the first time I ever posted. It is still helping me - I have so much support here and I know you will, as well. Here at AS, we are like a big family and our members are kind and non-judgemental. I am sending you lots of safe hugs! Take care! Link to post

Hey there and welcome to After Silence, I am Wanna! I am so glad you've found us. I remember when I was on hot lines myself, feeling like somebody has just thrown me into this dark pit, where I was stuck. I wondered if life would ever become normal, if I would ever be capable to function at all. Having a community of survivors is amazing, because even if you feel like nobody gets you IRL, typically survivors relate to each other. We get the opportunity to share what we truly feel and what has happened, without it affecting our day to day life. I think it's great that you're in therapy and I hope your meds are working. I so hope to see you around here. Just know, that we believe you. All best W Edited August 20 by WannaMoveOn Link to post
