Millie3
Hi everyone, I don’t really know what I’m doing here, my story was 16 years ago and most days are fine now but some days are heavy days and I maybe feel like I might be able to talk a bit about it all. Has it taken anyone else a long time to speak out? Link to post
MeBeMary
Hi Millie, Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for the trauma you endured and the struggles you still face. You've found a support community with many understanding and kind members. You are not alone. Be assured, you aren't the first one to acknowledge or deal with the aftermath years later. I found AS 11 years ago, but only after 30 years of living in denial, not only to what happened, but all the struggles I was facing. I just felt as if there was something wrong with me and there was no direction connection. I realized how wrong I was and finding this place and speaking to other survivors finally allowed me to be truthful with myself. Many survivors here have also walked in similar shoes. I'm really glad you decided to reach out, tho I wish you had no reason to be here at all. I do suggest you look around a bit, interact where and when you feel like it and know you are not alone on this path. Wishing you the best and you continue this path of healing. Mary Link to post

Has it taken anyone else a long time to speak out? Hey Millie, it is never too late to speak out. Trauma lingers in our nervous system until we actually confront it. If only time would wash all wounds away, none of us would need support eventually. I am here because of childhood DV and because of a violent relationship I endured 8 years ago. I still need some extra support now and then. Our community welcomes all survivors, no matter where they stand in their timeline. I am glad to hear, that you have good days. You deserve that. I also think you deserve to feel heard, understood and supported. Having a community like this can be a life line on the heavy days. You can also come here on good days. You are invited to come and go as you please here. Do let me know if I can be at any help, just throw me a PM Stay safe, W Link to post
missfrier
Dear millie Welcome to After Silence!! I'm sorry for what you have been through. I find it is easier to talk on forums then out loud. Being here has helped me so much, even from the first time I ever posted. It is still helping me - I have so much support here and I know you will, as well. Here at AS, we are like a big family and our members are kind and non-judgemental. I am sending you lots of safe hugs! Take care! Link to post
