Introducing Myself

Recommended Posts

Hello! I decided to join this forum because I wanted somewhere I could talk to others who have been abused. I consider myself a victim rather than a survivor because my situation is still ongoing (though I only apply this to myself). I’ve been experiencing abuse for a long time, although I haven’t given up on escaping.

As for my interests, I like anime and manga, and I also like to read books and play visual novels. I really enjoy analyzing fictional characters that have gone through abuse and writing about them, as I often relate. I hope to one day share more details about my situation, but for now, I’m glad to have found this place. Nice to meet you all!

Hello Lise,

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am so sorry you have and still experience trauma. It is not right and it's not fair. I'm sorry you can't call yourself a survivor yet, but it does look as if you are doing your best to survive until you are able to free yourself. I do hope that comes soon. You deserve freedom from such a life.

You are welcome to share as little or as much as you feel comfortable with. There is no timeline or requirement in how you use this community to help you. Some just read. Some just try to support others. Some post a little, some post a lot. It is what is right for you because this is your journey. Everyone is different.

It is also nice you have an outlet. I find many of us do. It helps to process and express ourselves.

I am glad you decided to reach out. I wish you the best in finding freedom and to start a path in healing. Hoping this is the start.

Welcome to AS, Lise. <3 I haven't read any manga or watched anime in ages, but I still love the culture and the art. I'm a big video game player. Anyhoo, I'm so sorry for what you're going through still. I can relate, as I still live with my abuser (sibling), and do not know how to get out of the situation. While my abuse doesn't happen in the same was as growing up...he's still abusive in other ways.

Sorry I rambled too much about me! I hope that you find a lot of help here. There's so many supportive and kind people in this community. You are not alone. <3

Welcome to AS, Lise ♡ I'm so sorry you have a reason to be here, but I'm also glad you found it when you needed to...

I'm also really into manga/anime/books. Mostly psychological thriller and horror in manga/anime, but I'll read just about anything if it's a book:)

I'm glad you reached out. I hope you find a little bit of healing in knowing that we understand and you're not alone ♡

Hey there, Lise! Welcome to our community, I am glad you've chosen AS to be your extended support system :flowers:

If you are in any current danger of domestic violence, please make sure AS does not appear in your internet history, for your own sake. You can PM me or any other staff for directions on how to use AS discretely, would you take any risks by being here.

I like reading too, although work and studies get in the way at the moment. I am not so much into manga, but I love a good romantic novel, especially taking place in a vintage era. Julia Quinn and Phillipa Gregory are two author's I particular enjoy. The only anime I really know is Pockemón, hehe.

Writing is a good way to cope, I myself just vent my thoughts out by writing. We have a forum called Healing Through Creativity and a forum called Venting. Perhaps they would suit you, if you feel like typing your emotions and experiences into words and to share it? You decide what to share and when, of course. Everyone are on their own timeline here.

Please know that we believe you. :notalone:

All best, W :sun2:

Dear lise

Welcome to After Silence!!

I'm sorry for what you have been through. I find it is easier to talk on forums then out loud. Being here has helped me so much, even from the first time I ever posted. It is still helping me - I have so much support here and I know you will, as well. Here at AS, we are like a big family and our members are kind and non-judgemental.

I am sending you lots of safe hugs!

Take care!

Thank you all again, really! While I didn't respond individually to everyone, I've read everything you've all shared with me. Your warm welcomes mean so much to me
