Sorry I didn't know how or who to message.

Would it be possible to hash or star out the specific types of abuse in the forum sub headers. E.g. a*** r*** or something. At the moment it's almost the fist thing I see and a bit triggering.

Hey @demuso and friends. <3

I'll talk with the other mods and see if that's something we can do. In the meantime, if you would like to toggle the category and hide it (unfortunately it's the whole category, not just one forum/section), you can do that here:

The upper right hand corner of the category there is a little minus sign. Click that, and it will hide the box, including the triggering forum.

We wanted you all to know that @Finchy did bring this up to the entire moderating team and we've been discussing this, since demuso posted this thread. We heard and understood how upsetting this could be for some. At the time, it was difficult to come up with a quick solution that wouldn't look like we were censoring the entire forum of topics yet help others with the triggering aspects of seeing thread titles from this forum. They can be rather blunt and descriptive.

We did discuss it and believe that we have found a solution that might be suitable for all.

First, we did add a TW to the forum title and added an advisory to the description, in bold.

Second, is we looked at other forums (Share Your Story and the Survivor's Connections forums) that do not have threads updated to recent activity sidebar. We had assumed this was where the greatest issue in where seeing the thread titles was. SYS and SC both require special permissions to enter, by way of post count and password.

As of right now, TW: Sexual Assault: Different Kinds forum requires a post count required of 1 and a password. We were able to put a bypass on the password for regular members (so the password actually isn't needed) but members will need that 1 post before being allowed to access the forum. A minor trade-off.

These restrictions will bar any thread from within this forum to be posted on the recent activity sidebar. You should no longer be seeing them pop up just by logging in. If you do, please let us know and we will look into it further.

Lastly, a thanks go to Finchy for believing this was a topic important enough for the moderators to discuss. If she had not taken the extra step, we wouldn't have been able to find a needed compromised solution that should benefit all involved. :throb:

(FYI...this thread has been moved to the Feedback Dropbox forum).

Thank you so much @MeBeMary and @Finchy
im not sure about the others, but I use the mobile version and when I scroll down to the different forums I have to scroll past the Types of SA forum and can still see the topics. For example I can currently see that someone has posted in the Incest thread… is there any way of removing this? I thought this is what you were talking about, but I can still see it 🙁. Thanks heaps!!!!

@PlumSundae on behalf of the team, thank you! :throb:

@Doll6 we will look into it when we get a chance, but in the meantime, you might try viewing in "old default" mode on your phone.

If you scroll to very, very bottom of the site you will see the word "theme". If you click it, it shows the three options we have. There is no dark mode for this, if that is what you are used to, but it's actually the only view that I see that makes it too big to show anything other than the last member that posted.

It is the only quick fix that I see right now.
