bart27830
Hi. I'm new here. I'm a survivor of SA that had been happening throughout my high school. Now, years after, I'm still in a bad place mentally. I'm on a therapy + meds for about two years now and still no major improvements. Recently I'm having a really hard depression episode. I thought I could join here to vent a little and maybe connect with other people (despite being socially awkward). I'm not a native English speaker so sorry if I botched grammar. Link to post

Hello there, Bart, and welcome to AfterSilence! I am Wanna First off, I am sincerely sorry for your trauma and how it has affected your life. Healing doesn't happen all of a sudden, and it takes work. I am proud of you for trying to find your way, with therapy, meds and now a community. When we allow ourselves to be vulnerable like this, we need kindness and compassion the most. After Silence offers a wide network of survivors, each carrying their own story. However, we do tend to relate to each other here. When processing trauma, we might end up feeling alone and isolated at times. Having fellow survivors around can ease that feeling, and remind us that we are not alone We do actually have a forum for venting - called "Venting". If you are confused of where to post next, need some assistance or a little chat, you can always throw me or any staff member a PM. Please check your inbox, as I will send you a welcoming letter. Please know, that we believe you. All best, W Link to post

I had no idea English was not your native language until you mentioned it. I am fairly new here and very socially awkward, yet I have benefitted so much from this space already. I hope you also find what you are looking for here and begin to heal. It’s a complicated process, but it does not have to be a lonely one. Best wishes on the journey ahead. ShyUnicorn Link to post
