SwanseasStar
I found this board after trying to look up some resources. I've always had a tendency to downplay and pretend like what happened to me as a kid never really happened, I never talked about it but I think I want to now. Hopefully I'll be able to get some things off my chest here, Link to post
MeBeMary
Hi SwanseaStar. Welcome to AfterSilence. I'm very sorry for what you've been thru. It's not uncommon for a survivor to downplay or deny what had happened. I did that for many years before I found this place. This is a supportive community with many understanding and kind individuals. You are not alone. Feel free to look around and interact with others where you like. No pressure. I hope you find this as safe and healing place as I do. Wishing you the best as you navigate this path we call healing. Mary Link to post
HiddenHeart
Hello, @SwanseasStar. Welcome to AS. Many of us never told what happened to us - you are not alone in that. I hope you will find this a safe place to start sharing those things when you’re ready. Link to post

Capulet
Welcome to AS, @SwanseasStar. I'm Cap, fellow survivor. I'm sorry for the circumstances under which you have arrived, but do hope that being here brings you healing. Silence is indeed deafening - and sometimes we spend more time and effort downplaying and denying - it can be exhausting sometimes, right? We have all got to start somewhere when it comes to putting experiences into words. Although these are terrible words that are tough to string together, once we begin to speak them (especially to others who can relate and can support and provide validation), we become so much stronger and better prepared to tackle the healing journey that lies ahead. It truly takes a village - or rather, a community. 😉 It is my hope that you will find this one to be a successful source of support. Please take your time looking around and feel free to give a shout if ever you need any help navigating AS. Best wishes, - Cap Link to post
Flowerheal
Good on you for finding the forum and posting. It takes a lot of courage to do so. I too “forgot” but knew it was there in the background. Link to post
