Thank you for you offer of help . It does take a lot more time to heal emotional wounds than physical ones and I don’t think it is easily done without support. AS has been a great source of support for me in this healing journey, I hope it can be for you as well. If you have access to therapy or counseling services that will help heal the wounds as well. Thank you for you offer of help . Welcome @uk63 I am a half centenarian and I also find that time does not 'heal'. I manage my triggers better but the indignation and outrage is actually stronger than when I was in my 20s, when I was still prone to doubting my own reality and memories. Most of the people who should have helped me just gas lit me, the others advised me not to rock the boat, in order not to get into trouble with my 'family' (the perpetrators). You know, like 'move on', 'forgive and forget' etc. As an adult, I did find support from other victims and members of the LBGT community (who were much more open minded than the very religious and conservative bunch I grew up with), however it's not pleasant to discuss that kind of stuff face to face. I am so grateful that the internet made it possible for communities like this to exist! It really helps to realise you are not alone, especially as the other people I knew who were co-victims of my perpetrators (older generation etc.) just didn't want to talk about it, moved to another country etc. I felt really alone and ashamed of my past before I found AS. It is a safe, non judgemental space too, because nearly everyone on here is a primary or a secondary survivor . As I read somewhere, 'normies just don't get it'. Hence people having no suspicions even though CSA is occurring right under their noses, or not intervening because they are embarrassed or they think it's not a big deal. See you around. Link to post
