hi this is my intro to my blog as a newbie. I’m dealing with my trauma that occurred at the ages of 14,15, and 16. i was Sexually assaulted by a friend as well as groomed by a teacher, and a few other men along the way. I’ve ignored it for years but going back to therapy has made me recognize the cause of many of my mental health issues now. I just feel really lonely with the after affects of assault and grooming. I still have nightmares about my teacher and still freak out about 85% of the time with sex. I just Really have been looking for a community that understands what it’s like to have traumatic things happen to you, it feels super lonely feeling like I’m the only one. But this is just my intro, i hope To connect with you all! -hvs

Welcome to AS @hvs101. I'm glad you found your way here. You're in the right place to find support and really wonderfully kind people that understand what you're going through. You're not alone. I'm sorry for what you've been through. Grooming and being sexually assaulted at young ages...it's awful. It was cruel and undeserved, and absolutely not your fault. I hope that your being here will help. Take your time exploring the site, and post when and where you're comfortable. We're here for you!

Hi there hvs,

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for what you experienced as a teen and beyond. It was unfair and undeserved. You have found a very supportive site with many understanding and kind members. Being able to relate and not to feel so alone is a big positive of reaching out. I am glad you have.

Yes, I think many of us ignore the cause of all the struggles we have until we can't ignore it anymore. I took me many, many years to say...ok...that's why.  Recognizing and admitting the reason is a huge step. Reaching out is another...and I wish you many more forward steps as you begin to more forward down the path of healing.
