  8. Yahoo, ! We love you, and are glad you've found AfterSilence! Finding a voice for what has happened to you is difficult! You do know, if he has done it you, and now to a friend, he will do it again. It might make it easier if the two of you go to the school guidance counselor and explain the situation.

  14. Yahoo, ! We love you and are glad you've found AfterSilence! Hi Betty, Are you doing a twelve step support program? I have only been involved with OA for eating, but that was a while ago, and I think the meetings are probably a lot more supportive for AA or NA. If so, I would recommend tapping into that higher power component and honestly making it work. In my case that is God. That is the primary way that I got a handle on the anxiety. I also got to the point that I would stop during an attack and think my way through it and find the source of my fear, visit with it for a litt
  15. Yahoo, ! We love you, and are glad you've found AfterSilence! WELCOME itsjustme, I can identify with what you have written. I think the first thing you must realize is that you are one among SO many. I lived my entire life thinking I was the only one that had ever endured anything like this, but in actuality by that age of 8, 20% have been sexually assaulted and 1 in 4 of experience it by the age of 18. (http://www.darkness2light.org/KnowAbout/statistics_2.asp) That means if you look out the window, every fourth person may have gone through something similar to you. It is nothing

  17. Hi Me, It is very possilbe. Much of my childhood was traumatic and not just of the CSA (childhood sexual assualt) variety. My aunt and uncle were both alcoholics and used drugs and were constantly around. I know many of the awful times with them I have repressed. I am 38 and just the other day my mom was discussing one of the situations we endured with my uncle when I was 15 and I honestly did not remember it. It seems that I have only snippets of memories of my early years and evidentally into my teens as well. Does this make me a little strange or sick. I think not. As someone els
  18. I am going to post to bring this back off the second page. It has helped greatly in connecting with survivors who are older and have been dealing with this for a long time. I originally e-mailed one of the forum leaders, because I desperately wanted to connect with others who had families, jobs, and all of the emotional luggage that being a survivor may bring. I hadn't actually read this topic for a couple of days when I sent the e-mail. When I did get back to reading here, I realized that I had inadvertently found many who were in the same situation I am in, I thought I would repost, so
  19. Thanks one again to all of you who have responded to this. I have felt so alone in the thirty years since it occurred. The circumstances of my abuse, perhaps as with all cases, caused me to close myself up into a cocoon. I interact with the world, but let very few in. In all those days since the innocence went away, I can count on my two hands, maybe even on one, the number of people I have told. Thanks for supporting me
  20. Thanks to all of you for making me feel so welcome! Your Sister in Survival, Todlyn Again
  21. Hi Again to All of my AS Friends both new and old, I wanted to reintroduce myself. Many of you know me as todlyn. Due to someone I was counseling and the need to share this site with them, I asked that my nick be changed. Things have been difficult for the past several weeks as well. It has been difficult to be smashed in the face with the realization that I am still living in an abusive relationship. Below was my original introduction from so many months ago. Thank you to all that have supported and at times carried me in these months. You are priceless! Verna and Lindy th
