  2. Hello all, This is just a reintroduction for those who used to know me and an introduction for all the members. My name is Jamie and I've been kicking around the survivor board since about 1997. A long time. Every once and awhile I make my way back to the boards, but this time I think it might be on a more permanent basis. I've reached a point in my healing journey where I believe I can take on a more supportive role. That is not to say that from time to time, I need to have some support myself. But I want to be there for others the way others have been there for me over the years. So
  3. Welcome to the forum femme. They've already explained the process to you but I wanted to welcome you anyway.
  4. Hello Heather, Welcome to the forum. Even though this site is themed toward rape and sexual abuse, in all honesty it doesn't matter what type of abuse you have suffered, I believe it is all the same. Many of us have been physically abused as well, I am included. My parents physically abused me and my mother still verbally abuses me. It is still a betrayal as far as I am concerned. So I feel that you belong here just like the rest of us. Also, if people have told you that what you've suffered is abuse, I would believe them. And there is no rush when you decide to talk about what has hap
  5. (((Speakeasy))) First and foremost I welcome you to the forum. I would love to say that the generations have changed, well to an extent they have. Unfortunately however in many aspects they haven't. The younger generation unfortunately still goes through the heartbreak of knowing their parents blame them and even shun their children for the abuse they have suffered. So yes we do have a bit of a generation gap here but we are all still tied together as survivors. I will say that it inspires me when any survivor chooses to speak up and break the chain of silence that gives this crime so mu

  15. The phone number I gave you in the previous post, they will also put you in touch with a counselor in teh area. It is something else I recommend. It could prove to be pivotal in how you work your way through what happened. I will say this, survivors have an absolutely awesome resolve. It seems that most of us find a way through it not just because we want to, but almost as a form of revenge because each day that we are alive, we win.
  16. hello amity, Welcome to the forum and I apologize deeply for the circumstances that have led you here. I hope you are able to find the support that you are seeking here. First and foremost, again I apologize for what has happened. But Karen is right, you should absolutely get checked out not only to make sure that you are okay, but for at least a peace of mind that you are okay physically. One of the help lines Karen is referring to is called RAINN, Rape Abuse Incest National Network, 1-800-656-HOPE if you are in teh United States. They are a 24/7 hotline. They will also work with you s
