Inherited
Another day,
Another punishment.
Another price to pay,
Another day I must live in banishment.
I scream into the void for answers:
"What have I done to deserve such treatment?"
But all I see are shadowy dancers,
Faceless figures from the past.
Dismissing me.
Ignoring me.
Overlooking me.
I reach out for one,
But my hand is stopped.
The flow of time is chopped.
they are not here anymore,
Long since dead.
But I see them.
Even if they are faceless.
Even if they are nameless.
They are the sinners who's crimes I must witness.
But they are the ones with the solutions.
I beg for their confessions,
Why must I suffer?
Why am I being condemned?
Every day just gets rougher,
And once again,
All I get is muteness.
Well I've had enough.
I refuse to wear the handcuff.
These are games I didn't play,
Crimes I didn't commit,
Dragons I didn't slay,
Wars I didn't fight.
Yet I must reap the consequences of their crimes.
I try to learn of the monsters who lived before me.
Give them back their sins before they crush me.
I dig and dig and dig.
But the mask falls and it is revealed,
All this time,
I've been searching for answers in a mirror from the past.
Now I must realise,
The faceless sinners I've been chasing have always been inside,
And I have long since become the monster I was born from.
