Pondering Post

Skye here. Under the circumstances, I think I'd better clarify some stuff...especially about me, Copper, and and the rest of 'em.

I know the rules of AS. I know that alters are not allowed to post on the normal boards. When you think about it, that one really does make sense. It can get really confusing when one username identifies as half a dozen different people. Never mind that some of us actually are several different people-- I know full well that body language and vocal tone identify us as much as the words we say.

On an internet discussion board we only have words.

On an internet discussion board y'all can't see that C has this really sweet smile and her hands are always open, reaching, offering to share whatever she has. You can't see that when she's in the driver's seat every line of this body speaks openness and a willingness to learn.

You can't see that my gestures are sharp, abrupt. My chin lifts at the slightest hint of a challenge and I sit like a coiled spring. You can't see me perpetually "smoking" my pens. You can't hear the snap in my voice when I speak, the "edge that could cut diamond" C called it once.

All you have on a message board is words. And that can be a problem. We don't have a way to type the emotion of vulnerability. We can't adequately use words to tell others when we're feeling fragile. Yes, we can use action dots and emoticons to show our feelings...but those things can be misinterpreted.

Thing is, we all see through our own filters. If I take the glasses off this face and you put them on, neither one of us is going to see well. You can't see through my filters. I can't see through yours. That is one of the things that makes us unique and beautiful in our differences. Trouble arises when we forget that we all wear different glasses.

This past week saw a thread here explode in arguments. Ugly, hateful words got thrown, and a lot of vulnerable people got trampled. Mods stepped in and ended the fight. I'm glad, but I'm also sad and kind of pissed.

In theory, we are all adults here. Wounded adults, but adults nonetheless.

There have been threads that made C mad. Reading over her shoulders, there have been a few that I desperately wanted to respond to. I was angry and that whole "edge that could cut diamond" part of my personality came surging to the front. But even mad, I managed to remember that I was reading through my glasses. The whole post might look very different if I read it through the poster's. Same with C. She's been livid a time or two...and caught herself before hitting the "post" button.

Most of the time, posts in this blog will be written by me. This is where I have a voice that I lack in the wider world.

This is also the only place I will be posting on After Silence.

I understand how hard it could get if Alters and Insiders and assorted Others all got into the posting thing. Just because the four of us (Me, C-G, Little Blue and C) are pretty much fully co-conscious doesn't mean that all systems are. Having different entities posting under one username could get insanely confusing. It could also get dangerously triggering...or just plain dangerous.

I don't want that. I don't think that anybody here on AS wants that.

So while I have claimed the blog, this is close as I intend to come to breaking the "no alters posting" rule in the TOS. This place is too important to C for me to want to botch it up.

With that in mind, I will endeavor to adhere to the Terms of Service. I'll keep my posting to the blog. I'll post trigger warnings where appropriate. I'll refrain from cussing in titles...in other words I'm going to do my best to stick to the rules. And anyway, most of the time C is looking over my shoulder, making sure I don't get the whole lot of us in trouble.

'Till next time

Hello.

That's kinda cool that you're all co-conscious.

Has it always been that way?(if you don't mind me asking). That's what I am working towards, being co-conscious with all the others inside.
