Hi, I'm brand new here. Bit shaky and not sure how much I'll be able to share, but I'm just grateful to have found people who understand that it doesn't go away, but it's not the only side of me. I'm here in London (well, just outside London, but who's counting) with my pet hedgehog, Abigail, or Hedgie for short. She's a wonderful embodiment of my feelings - she's wary of new people but she opens up eventually and becomes very loving, but one scary moment and she shuts down again.

Looking forward to getting to know you,

Megan

Welcome hedgieandme,

Sorry for the trauma you experienced, but glad you found AS. I've been dealing with my own trauma alone for a very long time before I found this place. It's normal to be a little nervous, but once you move around a bit and meet people, you will feel better. Everyone is always so supportive and kind.

Hedgie sounds a lot like my cat, Lucky. I don't know what I'd do without him.

Welcome!!! I'm glad you found AS :) Definitely don't feel pressured to say more than you're comfy with, it can take time to feel safe enough to share and that's totally normal.

I love your username - I'm jealous of your hedgehog. I've been wanting one for a while but I'm not sure if they're legal here... gonna look that up now! I remember hearing something about how pet hedgehogs are really expensive to buy, which I was surprised by given that they walk around in people's gardens hehe. *researching*

I went off and researched it, and I really do want a pygmy hedgehog! Turns out they are indeed illegal to sell in NYC, but not in the state of NY so you can buy one and bring it back to the city. Excited!
