I am a male, 37, who is a husband and father. I'm also an artist, writer, and musician. Please see www.resurrectionafterrape.org for more about me under "author".

I'm 37, married, with 2 sons. My wife is my hero. For amusement, I like TV shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Go, Joss Whedon!), Firefly, and Robot Chicken. I like unusual music of all sorts: Bauhaus, Ani Difranco, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Bill Miller (Native American), Rage Against the Machine, etc. And I'm about as left-wing as they'll allow in Oklahoma: anti death-penalty, pro-gay rights, environmentalist, in favor of universal health care, and a big believer in diversity and human rights. I'm religious, but not part of the conventional Oklahoma religious right.

I'm a mixed-blood Ojibway (Chippewa) Indian who still participates in traditional cultural ceremonies as part of my personal healing from trauma work. My pictures page has some images that represent my Ojibway heritage. I have degrees in art, human physiology, behavioral science, and I'm a licensed clinical social worker with a full-time job leading therapy groups and a part-time job as a University professor.

  1. Thanks for the help! this isn't the only one, but here is an example: http://www.aftersilence.org/forum/index.ph...c=63444&hl= She posted pictures of a tattoo she was clearly proud of, and as an artist myself I'm always intrigued with how people use art to exemplify their healing. But when I tried to click her jpeg links, I got this: The error returned was: Sorry, but you do not have permission to use this feature. If you are not logged in, you may do so using the form below if available.
  2. I'm trying to view .jpegs in peoples' posts, but when I click on them it says I do not have permission to view them. Clearly I am viewing posts that are properly accessible to my status (Secondary Survivor), so it's not like I'm trying to see contraband information. But for some reason AS prevents me from seeing them, even though it is clearly the intention of the post author to make those images available for viewing.
  3. Thanks! But one correction, genuinely intended: the people I work with aren't lucky to be able to work with me. It's the other way around. NONE of this glory or honor should go to the wrong person; it belongs entirely to the survivor. I marvel daily at the new things I learn from the amazing survivors I get to work with.
  4. Okay, so 40+ posts into my participation, I want to add a subsequent re-introduction. I am registered here as a secondary survivor, and have opted to keep that designation. I do have a personal story--not one of rape, but one of trauma--but have refrained from identifying as a survivor for a simple reason: I have a public job which involves "rape work" for a medical care facility, and I often advise clients to use the support forums of AfterSilence or DailyStrength. Given the likelihood that persons known to me might participate here, I chose to withhold information about my own story. I don
