How can I add friends to my friends list?

I got 2 messages that people added me to their friends list, but when I open the message (link) nothing happens....

go to members then type in the persons name you want to add open their profile then click on there actions and open a post or topic of them and then you can click on their name in a post and you can add them as a friend their. I know that is really really complicated.

Yer I cant figure this out either, so if anyone has added me to there friends list and I havent added you, it is not b/c I dont wanna be your friend, it just b/c I cant figure this site out, but I will try what Patty said, see how it goes.
