Hello, my name is Mahalia and I'm a seventeen year old girl from Australia. I found this place with a Google search the other day so I decided to sign up and hopefully connect with other survivors and maybe take some more steps towards healing. I'm strangely excited and nervous at the same time... Anyway, I just wanted to say hello to everyone and introduce myself.

Hi Mahalia,

I'm new to this site and the first link I clicked on was yours. I am a survivor, high school teacher from New Zealand - and strangely enough a "parent" to a 17 year old who has had a tough life herself and who I am now raising. I too am excited and nervous about this. I have surpressed things for a long time but events have now meant I need to face things. I hope we can both get what we need from this site!

Thanks for the reply. I bet you're a really great "parent". Both my parents are also survivors, though we rarely ever discuss our experiences. I know that having a background of... difficulty gives one so much more empathy to give to the world and the ability to sympathize with people. You must be a wonderful teacher too.

I'm both sad and happy to see so many other survivors getting together to support one another. I've already made a post in a different forum and read so many stories that are similar to my own. It's painful, it makes you confront feelings and memories, but it also makes you feel less alone.

Best of luck to you, I really hope that you find what it is you're looking for.
