"You are not alone"...

I'm fairly new around here and have seen the above phrase hundreds of times on this forum. At first I thought "do these people actually know what I'm going through??? Impossible!!!!!" but the more I read your stories (even though I still have limited access and cannot participate in some forums) I realised that that phrase is indeed true... It is comforting in some way to realise that even if all the feelings and emotions are new to me, there are actually people who know what I'm going through.

My friends and family are VERY supportive and I am thankful for that but sometimes when they give me advise, I cannot help but think to myself "Yeah right! You dont know what I'm going through so how can you offer advise???" All our stories and fears and circumstances are different but the emotions, worries, sadness, etc seems to be quite 'normal' to my fellow survivors. I regocnise myself in your sadness and emotions, in your self-blame and anger and that's when I realise that I AM NOT ALONE!!!! Even if my emotions etc are 'new' to me, it does not mean that I am abnormal.... You made me realise that even if my feelings are not 'normal' to me, it is 'normal' for one being in the same situation. Thank you all for this "Truth". For the first time I do NOT feel alone and a stranger to myself!!!
