Hi there,

I'm a female grad student in Canada, in my early twenties. I spent a lot of time in denial about what happened to me as a kid until I was suddenly triggered for the first time about eight months ago. I feel more stable than I did then but sometimes I'm still confused about how the trauma does or doesn't affect me, so I'm hoping getting to know other survivors will help me untangle my own threads a bit.

Hello Tea,

Welcome to AS. I am sorry for the trauma that you have suffered as a child, but you have found a safe and supportive site. I know a little about denial, I had done it for years. There does seem to be a certain point were denial doesn't work anymore, doesn't there? You will find many kind and understanding members on this site that walk this same journey with you. I wish you well on this healing journey.

Hello Tea,

Welcome to Aftersilence! I'm from Canada too, but I now live in the States!

I spent years and year in denial until I spoke out about it. I think by being here you will receive a lot of support and will help you understand what you went through. There are a lot of people here that have similar experiences. I think you took the right first step finding us :)
