New And Looking For Resources

Hey, not a hundred percent sure how to use this site, but I kind of want to tell someone who understands, get it off my chest. I was assaulted on my college campus on September, and since then have had panic attacks, nightmares, very little sleep, and am self-harming again, which I haven't done since my freshman year of high school. Last month, I finally told my parents and fiance, who at the time of the attack was gone for basic training, and have been doing better, but I'm still not sure where to go. I'm terrified of going back to school and even more so of when my fiance is being deployed in October. This semester, my fiance is going to the same school I am, but then I have a year and a half by myself. He is my rock, so I don't know what I'm going to do without him. I would love if anyone knows of some good resources. Please and thank you

Hi kmp924!

Welcome to After Silence.

I've never really replied to anyone's first post on here before but I realized my writing might also help another person with their healing.

It's good to write down your feelings, and telling your story to some you trust. You may not always get the response you would hope. But everyone on this site has gone through a similar experience to understand what you are going through which helps a lot.

Hope you find the healing you are searching for. I'm glad you are beginning to look for some support. You don't need to suffer in silence. I understand what it's like to stuff all your memories and feelings about your incident in the closet for many years. Personally I repress my incident for many years before acknowledging what happen and I'm sure this is common.

Wish you all the best in your healing process!
