Hello Support Group

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was looking into support groups in my community my schedule didn't allow me to go for several weeks so I thought I'd check this out. After four years of extreme denial, I only started talking about this in therapy a couple of months ago and It's been really difficult to function in other areas of my life as this comes to the surface.

I appreciate the idea of survivors supporting other survivors. I am in another support group for addiction and I have found the community really helpful.

Thank you all for your willingness to share and support one another.

Hi aromannamedstatusquo,

My name is Jan, and I am a member of the New Member Support Team. I just wanted to take the time to say welcome to After Silence.

I hope that you find comfort and support here. I am glad that you have joined with us and know that you will find others to connect with to build a support system. I know that I have across the years.

If you need anything or have questions about the boards or how something works, please send me a personal message. I will gladly help in any way possible.

Take good care,

Hello Aromannamedstatusquo,

Welcome to AS. So sorry for the trauma that you have suffered, but this is a very supportive site with many kind and understanding members. You are not the only one who has tried denial, but it only works temporarily, doesn't it? I wish you well on your healing journey.

Mary

Thank you everyone. I appreciate the warm welcome. Denial has been my life long coping mechanism. Understanding the true nature of what I experienced four years ago has opened up a whole can of worms. treating my anxiety and depression has been nearly impossible so I'm hopeful working through the trauma will ease my symptoms/get me actually feeling like a survivor.
