Introducing Myself...

Recommended Posts

I've only recently decided to seek out a forum and reach out to others who may have been through some of what I have been through. My struggle is with the actual "sharing" part... It haunts me and I have flashbacks, but I've never actually been able to tell the story. For the past few years I've managed to keep my traumatic memories at bay by using alcohol and drugs... we all know how that usually pans out. Not well. I'm currently sober--have been for three weeks, which is a long time considering how long I'd been doing that nonsense. I'm trying to adjust to feeling normal, but now all the memories are back.

I'm rambling a little, mostly because of how tired I am and just all around exhausted. My nightmares keep me up most nights. Anyway, I don't have much else to say at the moment, but I do intend to stick around.

You've done the right thing. This week has been the first time I've ever been in chat or message boards. I keep saying this, but it has helped to have a place to vent, find resources, and get support from others. Great work on being sober.

Hi Kay,

Welcome to AS. I am very sorry for the trauma that you have suffered, but reaching out is a big step. You will find the members here really do understand. I'm sure it wasn't easy become sober, and three weeks...that is amazing. I know it's just the start for you, but keep at it. We are all here to support you. I wish you well on your healing journey.

Hello Kay,

I want to welcome you to AS (after silence). Sounds like you have had quite a struggle and I hope AS can be a kind and supportive network to help you further along towards healing.

If you have questions or need anything I want to let you know that you can pm (private message) myself or any other NST (Newbie Support Team) member because we are here to assist you! :)

Strength to you as you walk forward,

Activist Ally
