New And Social Support Needed

Hi all,

The past couple of months I've been struggling with the idea of whether or not to start my journey of healing (after encountering past abusers). I am glad and relieved to have found group of women who are so strong and have/had experienced the same things as I have! The past 6 months have been the darkest for me but I feel ready to move on from the past and start healing. However, I feel like many of the people around me do not understand or do not know how to react which seems to make things worse. I hope to learn and connect with all you!

Welcome to AS ...most people in our "normal"(whatever that is) lives don't get it...or they just can't relate and don't know how to react.Here you can find people who are more empathetic and will give you a shoulder instead of bad advice.

Dear Christy,

I am new here too, but wanted to stop in and wish you all the best ... lots of hope, healing, and peace! It is hard having those closest to us not understand how we feel, but I try to tell myself it is not their fault. How can they if they have not experienced something similar? Some seem to try harder than others to empathize, but I try not to expect anything more than they can give. That's why these forums can be helpful sometimes. At least we can find others who do not think we are crazy!
