Getting To Know Me ....

Hi ... as a young girl I was sexually abused by my father and abandoned by my mother. At age 12 I was made a ward of the courts in England, as being in need of moral protection. I spent the next six years living under the care of the Children's Committee. I have recently published a novel about those six years and my struggle to deal with the emotions generated by abuse and abandonment - a pain which still threatens to consume me from time to time! My goal has always been not simply to survive [which some days was a struggle], but to thrive!!

I believe that by speaking out and telling my story, I can help raise awareness of just how painful and scaring sexual abuse is, and how important it is to do everything we can to put an end to it. My book, RAISED BY COMMITTEE, is also a tribute to the caregivers and social workers who helped put me back together again.

I look forward to connecting with others and sharing our stories.

Welcome to AS! How awesome you wrote a book, I love to write too but I can never finish anything. I may have to look up your novel. My story is a bit like yours when it comes to parents, and I'm sorry it has to be, you deserve so much better. I hope you find alot of friends here. AS has kind of become my family where my own didn't want me, hopefully you can find your family here too!
