My name is (obviously) Tamilynn and I'm 35, from Canada. I was sexually abused by my father from age 9-17 and I kept it hidden until about six months ago.

I am currently going through a divorce that's almost final and I don't have kids. My ex was emotionally abusive and controlling and it took me almost 15 years to leave him, but I did it.

I write, do some graphic design and I like sports and music. I am planning on going to university in January to study Psychology and hopefully in time become a psychologist and help people that have been hurt in different ways. I have a burning desire even in the midst of my own pain to reach out and help others, I think it's what keeps me going.

I already like this place. It seems warm and welcoming and I'm looking forward to getting to know you all. :flowers:

:aswelcomesu: You have found a place where you can share your feeling and receive comfort and loving support. I too am going through a divorce, after 32 years. Recovering the memory of my sexual abuse from 50 years ago -- using therapy to move from victim to survivor -- I saw how unfullfilling my marriage was. I have a sense of grief that I failed, but know it is the best for both of us.

Glad you found us,

Marce :flowers:

Thanks for sharing. :) I've just joined but already feel like I'm not so alone. I can relate to that sense of grief, that feeling of failure. But I really did try, I spent almost 15 years with a man that clearly didn't love me. So all I (and anyone else) can do is learn from it and move on.

Thanks again for the welcome. :)
