Im New To This Site And Just Looking For Support

Hi,

My name is Brittany and on February 14, 2009, I was sexually assaulted by two guys whom I had previously considered to be my friends. I'm still totally shocked and completely at a loss for words. It's hard for me to sleep at night because awful nightmares haunt me. Some days are better than others, some are really painful to get through. We have a zero tolerance policy at my college against any crime committed to another student, yet since these two men were my "friends," their punishment wasn't as severe as expulsion as it should have been. Instead, they were only suspended for the rest of the semester and are able to return to campus in the fall. I do not feel comfortable with them living so close to me again. I don't want to have to look at their faces on a daily basis and remember what they did to me. I'm scared and ashamed and totally hurt. I feel betrayed and scummy and used. I don't know what to do anymore. The first week after it happened, I didn't eat and I didn't sleep at all. I refused to stay in my own room so I would stay over in a friends room because I was too scared to be alone. I don't know where to go for help.

I am sorry that this happened you, I know how hard it is when someone you consider a friend does this to you

I am also really sorry that the college did not take this as a serious matter, if it has a zero policy on crimes committed to another student it should not matter that you were their friend or not. They obviously don't understand how serious this crime is.

Have you tried going to T (therapy) that can help loads. This site is a great support though, and I hope that it helps you as much as it has helped me.

I dont know where you live,but there are hotlines available,and i suggest you find help with pople specialised in this.Im outraged to read about how theyre comming back and how youre not protected.(and other girls too).Needless to say,im sorry for what you have been trough.
