I Guess I'm One Of Six

Hi,

Everyone (everyone that I like anyway) calls me JJ. I'm a 42 year old married father of two wonderful little girls. I got here by a very round about way. After suffering in silence for about 25 years I entered rehab for an addiction and my therapist and sponsor urged me to look at the root causes of my addiction. That led me to face up to some things... I was the victim of what some would call abuse (I would call it an inappropriate sexual relationship) from the age of 9-12 by an older girl (she was 14-17 at the time), I was the victim of statuatory r*pe at 16, and was r*ped by another man at the age of 19.

On July 10th (God willing) I will have a year of sobriety from my addiction, but working the 12 Steps have helped me see the effects that abuse and r*pe have had on my life.

JJ - welcome to AS! And congrats on your time sober. I've watched both of my parents fight to stay sober, and while I don't really "know" what it's like I've seen that it can be really, really hard. I have also seen my dad overcome it - he's been sober now for 7 years. You can do it.

I hope you find the support you need here. Whatever you call it, you were younger, she was older, it was wrong. And it impacted you. To me, it doesn't matter what you want to call it - just that it happened. You've got a lot of strength and courage to be able to share with us here.
