Can I Get A Ride?

Recommended Posts

On the first train outa here? Out of this oppressive, choking miasma of forced solitude and self pity? I won't be a bother. I'll just pile the few remainders of myself into the trunk and sit in the back seat on this journey going wherever the hell we're all going. I'm just tired of walking it alone. I've gotten a couple rides before, but they all ditched me back on the road for their own reasons. Maybe I slow them down. Maybe being a man actually speaking up, asking for a ride, is a shameful thing.

I promise I won't cry. And I'll listen to whatever you want to talk about. And I won't complain about the music on your radio. And I won't share my cancer with you if you don't want. This insidious, dividing disease that gnaws at my core and threatens to engulf everything and everyone I care about.

I just want a ride.

...think I pushed that analogy a little far....anyway...hello.

Welcome to AS Shido. Your post reminds me of a song I heard from Sammy Davis Jr. when I was a child. It was called "Stop the World, I want to get off". Hmmm. Oh well, glad you found AS and joined our intercontinental road trip.

That was a wonderful, but melancholy, piece of writing there. I can't wait to read your posts. Welcome to AS. Hope it helps.

Hi Shido,

Welcome to AS. My name is Mandy and I am apart of the Newbie Support Team here at Aftersilence. I can answer any questions you may have about this site or if you just need a listening ear, feel free to PM me.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. We have room here on AS if you'd like to join us. I know it can be really hard, but we're all here to listen and offer support. It's not a shameful thing at all, and it's okay to cry.

*safe hugs*

Hello there Shido,

I'd be right beside you trying to hitch that ride as well and maybe you'll find it here at AS. I can't promise anything, but from my experiences here- AS has been a very supportive place.

They allow you to sit in the driver's seat if you need to and change the station on the radio if you'd like. They encourage crying and won't dare to drop you off in the middle road. When AS picks up someone, they drive them all the way.

I'm sure we'd just like you the way you are. :flowers:

Truly, I'm sorry though for whatever may have brought you here. I wish you the best, though on this journey to healing. :)

♥,

Sadie
