Hey Everyerbody!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My name is Bess. I guess I'm just introducing myself to the AS community. Honestly, I'm not sure I'm really ready to talk about my past experiences....saying things out loud..or even writing them seem to valdate things too much. I just know I need something. After so many years it suddenly seems as though my insides may soon explode. I really hope that I can find the courage to break my silence, I'm just not sure when, or if, that will happen.

Hi Bess,

My Assault happened in May. I am in therapy and my therapist and i talked about me jumping right back into another job ( I got fired on medical leave due to the assault). She told me that many people try and pull themselves up , deal with it and go right back to life. By doing that they break 2 up to 20 years later.

I guess my question is did you get help at the time? I want to welcome you and if there is anything I can do let me know.

Hi! It took me over six years to acknowledge what happened to me, and then emotions just built up so much that I had to let them out, so I completely understand your feeling of wanting to burst. Just don't try to force anything. Take things at your own rate, which is different for everyone. If you ever want to talk, feel free to PM me. Welcome to AS!

 Bess, and welcome to AS! You don't have to post, or do anything you don't want to. That's what it's all about here! Nice to meet you.

Victoriaplaceo,

Well, I was a small child and never told anyone.....I've never seen a therapist. The thought really freaks me out. I mean talking to a complete stranger about stuff like this seems unbearable to me. I think thats part of the reason I'm here. Maybe if I can manage to anonomousty talk about it, I'll find the courage to do it in a real life, face to face situation. I have recently told my husband a little about what happened and we've talked a little about therapy.....but I just don't think I could do it.

Also, thank you all for welcoming me to AS:)

I am really sorry for the things that led you here but I am glad that you found your way to AS. Take your time and look around; I am sure that you will be feeling comfortable and at home in no time. There are a lot of great people here who will offer you the support and encouragement you are looking for and deserve. I look forward to seeing you around the board.
