whitedove Posted March 9, 2009 (edited) Feel free to PM me. I am close by and can let you know about these centers if need be ie metro area. There is also free counselling in Armadale as part of Armadale hospital and I know there are groups arranged in Armadale area but dont know any more information than that. SARC (sexual assault referral center) is FREE however, there is a waiting list unless you are in a dangerous situation. I waited about 4 weeks or so for first appointment. Incest Survivors Association is not free. There is other free resources, however I am not sure if they are free for everyone. SARC is part of King Edward in Subiaco (separate building) and there is FREE childcare. These are specialist counsellors. Please PM me and I will let you know my experiences here. SARC counsels males and females and has groups (groups are free). They have separate groups for childhood sexual abuse survivors and assault survivors. Incest Survivors has groups to. Also have a look at ASCA - they have meetings north of the river and meet in groups for survivors of abuse (child abuse and sexual abuse) ie survivor run group and not government funded. Grant funded. Thanks - PM me. Edited March 9, 2009 by whitedove
whitedove Posted October 5, 2009 Centacare as services in Perth, Midland and Joondalup, depending on your wage and they will negotiate the fee :-) (I think if you asked, it would be free if you could not afford it) and they do it free for health care card holders. kema Posted February 17, 2010 When i initially disclosed i called SARC's helpline. They were really slow, but got there in the end after i had to go home knowing that i had told someone. I waited nearly three weeks to see a counsellor, but the person i got was really good, and almost worth the wait. I have since moved to Victoria and SARC referred me to CASA and i guess i have mixed reviews about them. Also a long waiting period. It seems there is always a lot of waiting.
