hi. i'm new here and i am not a patient person. i recently reported my rape, and it just seems like it is taking forever for the cops to do anything. i understand that they want to get their stuff together, but it is aggrivating. so if anyone who has done this before maybe fill me in on how long they think it will be. i know the guy and they have a name and address. its been a week since i reported it. i just hate not knowing what's going on. if anyone could maybe give me something that might possibly be goin on i would really appreciate it. thanks

okay, well, i am in the process of pressing charges myself. my rape was a year ago, so it is much more complicated than most cases. but all i can say to help is that you have to keep asking questions. make sure that you keep yourself updated- make phone calls to the detectives to see what is happening.

i know you said you are not patient, but you have to be. things like this can take forever, name or no. just know that they are doing the best they can to help you find justice.

thanks. i've called the detective twice and left a message asking for an update..and haven't gotten a call back, so i'm hoping i'll get a call on monday. how long ago did u press charges? if you dont want to say on the bulletin or whatever this is called, send me a message on here..i think you can do that right? it'd be great to have someone to talk to as we do it together.

Welcome to AS. You've been brave to report what happened to you. I admire that. This type of crime is notoriously difficult and will take time. I wish I could give you better news. For me it has been just over 3 years and again they know the man's name and address but it's not as easy as we would like to think to get a conviction.

Just hold on in there. The man that attacked me is on an offenders list at least but I'm still a long way from getting justice. I am just getting on with my life while I wait for them to pick him up and put him behind bars and I will do everything I can to put him there, but in the meanwhile I feel my life has got to go on and by enjoying as much around me as I can, somehow I feel I am beating him and not letting him destroy me.
