Putting things together

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I'm glad this site exists! I've been pulled back in depression and stress recently and this is helpful. I appreciate connecting.

One thing that could be helpful and trauma-informed: please have a non-binary option. To sign up I had to choose "female," which is not my gender.

Take care everyone. :)

Hi Trying To Heal Anger.

Welcome to AfterSilence.  I am sorry for the trauma that you've endured, but I am glad you have found us. This community is filled with understanding and kind members. You will find tons of support.

I do apologize for the options available, as we do welcome any and every survivor, no matter how they identify. We do have an option that you can use in addition to the offered male/female options. I will post it below.

Feel free to look around the community and interact where you feel the most comfortable. I wish you the best on your healing journey.

Mary

Welcome to AS, @Trying To Heal Anger! I'm glad you found your way here. I'm so sorry for what you've experienced though, and that you're back to being depressed and stressed. :( That is awful and so difficult to handle...but you will find a lot of very friendly and supportive people here that can relate. You're not alone. ❤️

You're also not alone in being nonbinary (hello! I am, too :)) and being frustrated with the lack of enby gender options. But as Mary said, there is a workaround. I don't use it, but the option is there to add it to your member title. You just can't get rid of where it says female/male. The site's technology and options are a bit older, unfortunately.

Sending you lots of support and wishing you the best. ❤️ Take your time exploring!

New to this site too, not even sure this is where I’m supposed to do my “introduction”…going to be 50 this year and STILL/Again (started back full force 2 years ago) letting this stuff rule my life after it started when I was a little girl, around 4 (my timelines are sketchy) so tired, do not see the point in much these days…hanging on through two therapy sessions a week, medical marijuana and just agreed to a visit to a psychiatrist to try and calm symptoms so therapist and I can continue processing…I have three sons (soon all college age) and a wonderful wife, but I’m just tired of existing for others and just surviving. Therapist is on vacation for a couple weeks so I thought it was a good time to try a support group.

Welcome to AS, Mic! Nice to meet you. It would be best if you created your own topic/thread for your introduction. :) Then you'll get more responses and welcomes! Until then, I would like to welcome you. I'm so sorry for what you've been through. It sounds like you've had a very difficult time. I'm so sorry. You didn't deserve any of it, nor was it your fault. You're going through a lot right now in attempts to heal....I'm proud of you for seeing a therapist and for agreeing to see a psychiatrist, too. I really hope that everything helps you on your path to healing. You really deserve to feel good in this life. ❤️ I'm glad you found us. Take your time exploring the site.

Thanks all for the support everyone! I'm definitely working through a lot these days, part of it is my mental health that isn't necessarily related to the traumatic events. I've recently come to realize through therapy and research that I might have OCD. So I am also working on that.
