New to site and confused

I am new to this site and I’m finding it very difficult to navigate it. Example: I’m not sure if I should be writing so much since this is supposed to be a topic, but there seems to be too much space in which to write, for a mere topic. This site was suggested to me by my therapist so I would like to give it a try. Any help in navigating this site would be appreciated.

Hi LOB22 and welcome.

I am sorry you have reasons to be here, but glad you were referred. This is a supportive community with many understanding and kind members. You are not alone.

In general, a topic can be a few lines or a bunch of paragraphs. You are in the Welcome area, so brief is best, as this is a public area. Most of the other forums are private, so they will only be viewed and responded to by registered members. You will see PUBLIC: before a forum, just to let you know.

Looking about the community is the best way to become familiar. You can reply to others or create your own topics and as I mentioned, it can vary in size. You will see tags if a member has decided it will be informative to others or contains a possible trigger. That is the little plus sign under your topic heading. This will help you too.

It takes courage to reach out, even if referred, so I do want to acknowledge that. We've all been new, so it's ok to have questions. I know that I did. I will be sending you a welcome PM in a few minutes with a little more information to help guide you.

Welcome to AS, @LOB22! I'm glad you found your way here. Many thanks to your therapist for referring you. My therapist also suggested AS to me, and I'm so grateful that he did. :) This place is wonderful...truly so helpful and supportive. You will find a lot of kind people in this community...you are not alone!

I'm so sorry for what you've been through that led you here, though. Whatever your trauma, it was not your fault, and it was greatly undeserved.

Mary gave you lots of great information on the site. Not sure I have anything else to add. But if you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask! Best wishes to you.

Welcome @LOB22 to After Silence.  I’m sorry for what brought you here but I’m happy you are here reaching out for support.  Good job taking this step in your healing process.  You are not alone and what happened to you wasn’t your fault.  Take your time exploring and post when you are ready.  As far as posting goes, I think Mary did a good job explaining.  But if you have any additional questions about that or anything feel free to message me.
