Hi new here!!

Hi all, I'm new here and excited to get started on my journey of healing. It's been five years since I was raped by my partner at the time and have gone to therapy consistently since. I hope from this online forum I will find some inner peace that I haven't been able to achieve on my own. I'm proud of myself and how far I have come over these past 5 years, but will it ever stop replaying in my mind? Looking to help others and for some guidance from those who can give me some tips! Blessed to be here and thankful to have found this outlet to help.

Hi tralee.

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am so sorry you experienced trauma by your ex and that you still struggle. I am glad tho that you know how far you've come and that you are proud of how much you've accomplished. Healing is a long and winding road tho and never comes soon enough for those of us who travel this path.

You will find tons of support from our understanding and kind members. You are not alone in this journey. Feel free to look around and interact where you feel the most comfortable. I wish you many more steps forward as you continue down this path.

Welcome to AS, @tralee98! I'm glad you found your way here. I'm so sorry for what you've experienced, though. So sorry your former partner did that to you. It was an atrocious act and so very undeserved. But I'm proud of you for being proud of yourself for how far you've come so far on your healing journey. :) That's good you've been seeing a therapist for the past 5 years since the event happened, too. Therapy can be so helpful.

I can't say whether it stops replaying in your mind or not. But I will say that with extra support from awesome people here and your therapist, that you will work towards healing more, and you will have power over the memories/thoughts, whether they're replaying or not. I wish you all the very best. ❤️

We might not be able to eliminate bad days completely, but we can learn to manage them better and cope when they do happen.
