Well, I made it here!

Recommended Posts

So I'm new here,  happy to have found this group! I've not been in or on any kind of forums/chat groups since Dial up internet was the standard so,  guess I just dated myself lol.

I've recently started back with my T with the goal of doing EMDR. We are still in the stabilization/learning resources stage and whew,  it's definitely going to be a lot more involved than I originally thought. Last week we started working on finding my inner child. Saying it was intense is an understatement. I'm still reeling from the session,  and it's been 4 days.  Good stuff!

Happy October 😊

Welcome to AS @My Fish Jim!! You have a very interesting username. Do you have a fish named Jim, by chance? Anyhoo, I'm very glad that you found your way here. It's ok that you haven't been on a forum/chat in that long...for some people, this is their first time on a forum. And it's a really great place to have that experience. You'll find a lot of very kind and supportive people here. I'm sorry, though, for what you've been through. It was undeserved.

I'm proud of you for going to T and even doing EMDR! (or having the goal to anyway!) I've never done EMDR, but I've heard it's very difficult but worth it. I wish you all the very best. ❤️ Sending you support and comfort.

Hi there, My Fish Jim, and welcome.

I am sorry you actually have reasons to be here, as nobody deserves the trauma that they have gone thru. On the bright side, you have found a supportive place with many understanding and kind survivors like yourself. You are not alone.

We are also a community with diversity, so dating yourself is nothing so shocking. I am 52 myself, and I'm definitely not the youngest, but also not the oldest. The diversity here is one of the things that I find comforting, as no matter who you are or where you are from, others do understand. It just takes a place like this for us to see this.

Good for you for facing your trauma and the struggles it brings. I know it isn't always easy and reaching out as well, is a big step. I wish you many more forward steps as you continue down your path of healing.

Mary

Welcome My Fish Jim - I nearly wrote My Fish Gym there and it conjured up a hilarious image 🤣

I'm also relatively new to the board and have already found it such a source of comfort. I hope you will too and that it'll compliment the work you do with your therapist. Wishing you luck getting started with the EMDR.

PS. I think my last time in a forum was when I was 15 and on a Green Day fan forum!
