Hey hi hello!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I have recently began to take on the life-long journey of recovery from incest abuse.  I want to tell my story to everyone, but obviously I don't because it's not always the right time or person.  I joined a couple of nights ago and I spent hours reading through different blog posts.  I really was hoping to find someone with my same story (relation to abuser and family) and I don't know why that is important to me.  I want to share so someone else like me might read it and not feel alone.  I want to share to end the silence and generational secrecy my family values.  Fuck that shit.  I kept it quiet for 20 years and I am very much in the mindset of SPEAKING UP.  I am looking forward to sharing my story here in the safe place.

I have found a wonderful therapist after 3 failed therapist relationships and I hope that some day this will not effect me and my relationships (or lack there of).

Thank you for reading and thank you for being here.

Hi Heartoheal,

Welcome to AfterSilence (I saw your PM and will reply after I do here). I am sorry for the trauma you have endured and the struggles you face. Speaking out can truly be a difficult thing to do, but can also be empowering. When you are ready to do so, this community will validate and support you. You are not alone.

I also found myself in this community decades after the fact, and for me, it truly was a life-saver. Seeing others who understand, tho sadly so, is a relief in many ways. What we have kept inside, tho unique to ourselves, is not unique in how we relate and struggle. We all share a bond that is hard to explain, but is very needed. I'm glad you have found us and decided to reach out.

I wish you well as you continue down this path of healing.

Mary

Hello @Heretoheal and welcome to After Silence, I am Wanna :flowers:

Nice choice of name, I like it! As you can see, mine is also inspired of my survivor goal.  Yes, break the silence! Nobody has the right to tell you to keep it secret. Being valuable and sharing is brave, you did right by coming here.

I am sincerely sorry for your trauma and pain. AS invites all kinds of survivors, and I am certain you'll find survivors with similar a background story or who can relate in other ways. Our members form a warm support system.

I am happy you finally found a therapist that fits your needs, it is very important. I believe a community and professional guidance complete another in a support system. Hope to see you around!

Once again, welcome   :youcanheal:

Hi, @Heretoheal -

Welcome to After Silence! I'm sorry if you did not find a blog post that quite matched what you were looking for. I can assure you, there are people here that have experienced the same thing you are going through. Blogs are public so a lot of people don't post too many details there. There is a Share Your Story forum that will unlock once you've reached 10 posts and you might find something there!

I'm sorry for what you experienced and what brought you here. I hope that we can help you find healing :) If you need anything, I'm here!

All the best,
Poppy
