Hi, this is my first post on here.

I have a lot of trauma and would like to speak with people who I can relate with who have gone through similar. I guess I want to open up about what happened to me and have people understand and listen. I'm in a place in my life right now where it doen't feel like my mental state can improve, as my username is meant to show...

I am a bit worried because I am a 22 y/o male and most people here are female who have been assaulted by a male. Does this forum still welcome guys?

I know that posting for the first time can be scary.  Please don't worry, though; you will always be given so much support from our lovely community and its members.  You're not alone - we are with you.

You will soon receive an official welcome message in your inbox.  Please feel free to respond to that PM if you have any questions about the forum or if you need some help finding your way around the site.

Take care and keep reaching out!!

We also  have male  forum  you will need  password    for forum but I'm sure  one  male  moderator   or admins   will  be able to give you this    if  you would like it

Welcome @ForeverRecovering to After Silence.  I’m sorry for what brought you here but I’m happy you are here reaching out for support.  Good job taking this step in your healing process.  You are not alone and what happened to you wasn’t your fault. Yes, we do welcome males.  Although there are more females here we do have some male members, including two male staff members.  In fact, there is even a male survivors forum under the Survivor Connections category.  Take your time exploring here and post when you are ready.  If you have any questions feel free to message me.

Hello ForeverRecovering.

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for the trauma you have endured, but do know you have found a very supportive site. Our members are understanding and kind and we foster an environment that is respectful and healing for any survivor looking for such a community. I think that you will find it surprising and refreshing how accepted you may be by many of the female members. I think many, like myself, try not to even view members by gender, but by the support and the healing they want and need because of what someone put you thru.

Do know you never deserved to be hurt. Nobody has that right and you endured something very unfair. We accept you here and hope you find the kindness and validation that every survivor deserves...including you.

Feel free to look around the site and interact where you feel the most comfortable. It is not an easy journey, but it can be easier together. Wishing you many steps forward as you continue this journey of healing.

Mary

Hi @ForeverRecovering, welcome to AS. I'm male and have found this place incredibly helpful for several years-- really I've learned so much from the other survivors here and have gotten a lot of support from them, in a way that, I don't know, is very important and different from family, friends, and therapists who have not also been through it.

Please feel free to private message me any time.

Hello

Yes @ForeverRecovering AS welcomes males as well as females though I'm sorry you have had something happen that has brought you here, I'm glad you found the site!  I am also male and have always found AS (After Silence) a welcoming and supportive site.  I hope you will also find support as you work on healing.

Absolutely. Your trauma is just as valid as anyone else's. You are recognized and supported here ❤️

Hi.

The unfortunate reality is that these kinds of things can happen to anyone, and I'm very sorry that you had to endure whatever brought you here.

You definitely deserve to find support here and I wouldn't ever judge someone for being here or for what someone else did to me.

Good luck.
