Hello, I'm new and I suck at introductions.

I'm J., 22, male, vaguely European. I'm sorry if my English isn't that good at times.

Honestly I am unsure if I should even be here but in the end I don't know where else to talk about what is bothering me.

I have never directly been sexually abused but I have witnessed overly sexual behaviour at a far too young age and it has impacted me until today. I hope it's ok to talk about that on here.

Thanks for reading. I hope you're all doing more of less okay.

Hello J! I am Wanna :flowers:

I want to start with wishing you my warmest welcomes. I am sincerely sorry about what happened to you. Please know that we believe you. After Silence invites all kinds of survivors. It it easy to think, that one is exaggerating, but we take you seriously. We believe you.  If you feel that something is off, then you should have a safe place to talk about it. You have nothing to be embarrassed about.

Of course it is ok to talk about it here. What you tell me does sound concerning. A child should be kept safe from experiences that might disturb them, even if the explosion is not directly physical.

We have many members who's first language is not English, don't worry. I am one of them :)

Please feel free to browse the website. Us staff always has doors open if you would have questions, need vent/chat, support or advice. :aswelcomesu: :notalone:

Hope to see you around

- Wanna ☀️

Hi J,

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for what you have witnessed  when you were so young. A child should not be any part of sexual behavior, even if it is just by witnessing this. You, as a child, should have been removed from such situations. Child Sexual Abuse does NOT require physical contact, but is any sexual behavior a child is exposed to that can have lasting physical, psychological, or emotional affects. We acknowledge and validate your experience and welcome you to our community.

As Wanna has mentioned, we are an international site. We have members from many countries and are understanding and supportive to all whom find themselves here. Feel free to look around and interact where you feel most comfortable. I wish you the best as you move forward on this path of healing.

Mary

Welcome @goldfinch to After Silence.  I’m sorry for what brought you here but I’m happy you are here reaching out for support.  Good job taking this step in your healing process.  You are not alone and what happened to you wasn’t your fault.  A child shouldn't ever have to experience something sexual.  You are welcome here.  Don't worry if English isn't your first language, we understand.  Take your time exploring here and post when you are ready.  If you have any questions feel free to message me.
