My Introduction

Recommended Posts

Hello, I go by BooksnCoffee. I joined After Silence for online support. I am seeing a T but need more support that is ongoing. I'm so glad people have this forum here.

In 2015, I started studying about trauma and took a class that opened my eyes and showed me what's needed for people. I hope to help others in this field as I (very very slowly!) finish my college studies.

As a survivor of trauma I understand the complexities we face, which makes "everyday life" more difficult. PTSD and C-PTSD are major obstacles. Peer support is needed to recognize and confront these situations. Understanding the root of this trauma is the key to solving it.

I'm a survivor of abuse, CSA, harassment and more serious crimes (which I won't mention here), but all involve others trying to take away my control in various forms. Violence is also a form of control and I'm a survivor of violence also.

These traumas are all connected: vulnerability, rejections, neglect, exploitation and loss of control.

We can break the silence and become stronger together.

Thank you for making this safe place possible.

Hi Books.

I think that I may have replied to one of your other posts, but I know that I have noticed you the last week or so. I still want to officially say: Welcome!

I am glad you are one to ask questions. I think it helps us to understand where we are and what we go thru. There may be no sure way of understand what makes and abuser an abuser, but to understand our struggles and try to take steps in healing are so important.

It takes someone with a big heart to go into a field that will eventually help others. I admire your drive and dedication to do so. I've always had the desire, yet not the nerve to do so....so I do my little part here, when I can.

You seem comfortable with the site, so keep doing as your doing. Know you are supported as much as you support. Know that I wish you well in all your journeys.
