Hey

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. It took me quite some time to make my way to this site. It wasn’t anything I’d ever head of until I did some of my own research because all the resources people gave me just didn’t seem to be what I needed. I’m hoping AS will be different and more beneficial to my healing.

I have had a long history with abuse, but nothing ever seemed too bad and unbearable until one instance 4 years ago. I will eventually post about that, but I’m not ready just yet. I got some help from a local organization and that support group saved my life. When I moved away, I was never able to find the same support as I had with those remarkable women.

Recently, I had a situation at work with my boss and going through all the trauma again made me realize I needed to reach out for support again. I have been healing for what feels like a long time and thought I was in a good place, but then when it happened AGAIN, I feel like I got sent soaring backwards.

That’s how I stumbled upon AS. I’m really hoping AS is what I need to start healing again. Because while this time wasn’t as bad as last time, it hit me harder and I’m feeling the weight of it more. Thank you for everything you do and thank you all for staying strong. We need to build off one another’s strength and we’ll get through this together.

Hi isawabird,

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for what you have been thru, but do know you will find amazing support here. This community is truly understanding. It is ok to take your time and find your comfort zone first. You will never be pressured to share more than you want and when you want. I am glad you found our site.

I'm sorry that your everything seem to resurface thru whatever you experienced with your boss. Even so, do not discount t he healing you have accomplished. It is the way healing works sometimes. You move forward, then hit a stumbling block. It is unfair, but is common. What you accomplished already tho, will help you as you try to move forward again. This time too, you are not alone. Many of us can relate and we are here for you.

I am glad you decided to join and I soon hope you see this as a positive step forward. I wish you many more steps forward on this path of healing.

Mary
