Hello, 

New here and could use some help. I was watching a show earlier this week and I guess it must have triggered me because this incident that happened almost 10 years ago has been on my mind ever since. I’m confused about the situation because I’ve always written it off as bad sex but I keep bursting into tears when I think about it. Not sure what I’m looking for, i just don’t really have anyone to talk to about this.

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for what you experienced 10 years ago and the struggles you are currently facing. I believe many of us try to find alternatives to the truth, because the truth can be so difficult to accept or understand. It took me much longer to realize my rape at 15 was not a mistake or accident, so do know that sometimes it takes time to identify the truth. You are not alone.

Triggers can be so unpredictable and cause all sorts of reactions. I am sorry you are enduring this right now. Do know you will find tons of support and understanding in this community. We validate and accept you. I am glad you decided to reach out. I can't promise you healing is easy or quick, but it does help knowing others can relate.

Give yourself time to look around and when you feel comfortable, feel free to interact. Until then, I wish you the best as you walk this path we call healing.

I am sorry for all that you have been through.   You have been so brave in reaching out to us, please know that this is never easy!   We are all here for you and we want to support you.  You're not alone in your healing journey and are always welcome to lean on us for extra support.  You can post as much or as little as you like.  We are here to support you in the way you need.  I have found this community to be very helpful.  Everyone is so understanding and non-judgmental and I am hoping you feel the same way once you've gotten to know us a little.

I'm sorry for the experiences that brought you to us.  It can take years to process and understand what happened to us, especially since our emotions and survival responses are so high.  Take your time and feel free to read/post on AS whenever you want.
