Hi, this is my first time posting on a forum (ever) I’ve been reading posts on here for a few weeks now and thought I’d go for it and see what happens. I recently found a counsellor who is amazingly kind and understanding. With her help I find myself making huge changes to how I view the world around me and what is and isn’t acceptable. The sessions can be so difficult, as I’m sure many of you can relate with. I find myself wanting to talk more but with people who understand what I’ve been through, who understand the confusing thoughts and emotions attached to trauma. My friends, although they are wonderful just don’t get it and their comments can really hurt. I hope I can in time get to know some of you and hopefully we can find peace and support between us.

@Tee06 Hello and welcome to After Silence. I/ we are so glad you have found these forums. There are a lot of members here who were referred to the forums by their therapists/ counselors so I think you will find plenty of support and plenty of people to relate to here. Coming to the forums and talking about your trauma is a huge Milestone when it comes to healing- reaching out is sometimes so hard to do. I am so glad you did and that you are here! 💜

I hope you find comfort and validation being here and realizing you aren’t alone with your pain :)

Hi Tee,

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for the trauma you have experienced, but you will find support here. Our members are kind and understanding. You are not alone. I am glad that you decided to take the step and reach out. You deserve healing and it can help when you have others who can relate.

Sometimes it takes a little time to become comfortable and you've already started what I would recommend. Reading. It's what I first did and it really does get easier the more you do. You will become more comfortable as you go, but you still only have to share what you feel comfortable in sharing. We accept you here and you and your experience is validated. I wish you so many steps forward on this continuing journey of what we call healing.

Mary
