Hello, my therapist recommended this website to me. I just registered today so I'm still trying to figure out how to work everything. I'm sorry that we all have a reason to be on this. It makes me relieved that I'm not alone. I'm only 7 months into treatment and still on the first stage of treating the trauma so I have a long road of recovery ahead of me, but I'm hopeful to have people to relate to while going through the process. I've only told my boyfriend of four years(I finally opened up about it when we were together for 2 years), two very close friends, and my therapist about what happened to me.

Dear @faye1234,

Welcome to After Silence.

I'm also sorry that you have a reason to be here.  Many of us know what it's like to carry the pain of SA.  Your decision to tell a "precious few" is understandable.  It is a difficult conversation to have.

I hope you find comfort and healing here.

Hi Faye,

Welcome to AfterSilence. I am very sorry for the trauma you've endured and the struggles you have faced. It is never right for someone to hurt another in this way. You will find tons of support here, as you are not alone. It is very brave to tell loved ones and I know it is never easy to do so. I am happy tho you have people you trust.

Take your time and look around the site and feel free to interact where you are comfortable. I am glad you decided to reach out and I wish you the best as you move forward on your path of healing.

I completely understand where you are. I am 4 months into therapy, and my psychologist recommended this to me as well. It is definitely a hard road that we are travelling down, and knowing that you are in a similar space makes me know that I am not alone in this. We can travel the path together.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to up to my partner or family about it as it would cause a very large explosion in my life.

Hope to chase to you soon
