I am new to this site and new to what has happened to me. I have a husband and two kids and I am trying hard to get back to normal. I need to be back to normal for them. I don’t have many people that know so I have been looking for a place to vent and get some help moving on. I’m hoping this place helps.

Hi @HurtingMommy,

welcome to AS, although I'm sorry for what brings you here.  I understand wanting to get back to normal for your husband and kids,  I have two kids and a hb as well and they motivate a lot of my healing work. It can be so tough trying to compartmentalize parenting vs just coping with what's happened. I hope you can be compassionate with yourself and understand you deserve time to heal and recover and what happened is not something that is easy to just forget and move on from.  I hope that being here where you can be heard and validated , believed and supported, will help in your healing. :notalone:

Hello @HurtingMommy -

Welcome to After Silence!

I am so sorry to hear you've got reason to be here, but I truly hope that you find that this is truly a loving, supportive community and that you are not alone - so many of us are in the same boat and can relate to trying to regain some normalcy.  Take your time, be patient with yourself and take it at your own pace.  You are worth it.

We are all here for you!

Best wishes,
Capulet

Hi HurtingMommy,

Welcome to AS. I am very sorry for the trauma you recently experienced, but you will receive tons of support here. You are not alone. Our members are understanding and kind and can relate with what you've gone thru. Reaching out is a first, big step...and I wish you plenty more of steps on this healing path.

Hi @HurtingMommy,

Welcome to AS, though I am so sorry you have reason to be here.  I understand how hard it is to have gone through these things and I find it inspiring that you want to be ok for everyone else around you. Not recommending this but when it happened to me I pushed it down and pretended it didn't happen that worked for a while, till one day it didn't anymore and I thought I was loosing my mind. I do however recomend giving yourself time to grieve, share, vent, yell be angry, feel every feeling you need to feel your family will be ok and its not a weakness or failing them if you need time, I know it may feel that way though. AS is a great place to let those feelings out in a safe place, its full of warm caring people that'll listen and talk with you as well as support you. Your not alone and we Will support you. Keep doing whatever it is you can do while your healing a t told me a few years ago every small step is a victory but it takes thousands of small steps to go a mile.

You are brave and courageous joining AS and sharing your first post, I wanted to point that out.

Dear @HurtingMommy,

I am so sorry for the experience that has brought you here, but yes, you have found a loving and safe community that is kind and understanding and will never judge.  I had a hard time returning to my old normal, but after years of working hard to heal and grow I have found a "new normal" that includes joy, strength, happiness and health.

Whatever you have to go through on your journey to healing, AS is here and you will always have friends to help support you along the way.

Hugs,

Gold Raindrops
