Breaking the Silence

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I am new to AS and this is the first time that I have reached out for support online. I am hoping to connect with others who understand what I have gone through without judgment.  I am also eager to hear the coping strategies that everyone uses on their road to recovery! It has been 5 years since I was abused and I am finally speaking about it! I look forward to meeting and chatting with all of you!

Welcome, @Redness, and I hope you find the support and learning you are looking for to heal.  I think you will.  It is a brave step to reach out and speak.

Thank you @pattyr. I did not know sites like this even existed! For once It feels like the weight of the world has been lifted off my chest. I cannot wait to get to know everyone. I finally feel like I belong somewhere!

Hey @Redness, welchome to AS. Youve found a very supportive site with lots of caring people. I am so sorry for the trauma you endured 5 years ago, your not alone in waiting to talk about it, I waited 10 years before I dealt with my struggles and I'm still dealing with them. You are free to share as little or as much as you want at a pace that is comfortable with you, I know this can feel a bit overwhelming at first. I'm glad you found us here and I am looking forward to seeing you around the forums. Your are worth the struggle and you can heal.

Hello Redness, welcome to AS, (fellow Canadian here:)    I am sorry for what you went through,  but glad you found this site. It really does help to find a community that understands what you've been through, where you can speak your truth. This a place where you will not be judged. I think there are quite a few threads here about coping strategies on the path to healing too, so please have a look around and feel free to share as much or as little as you like and feel ready to.

Thank you @BraveOne and @silentg for welcoming me. I already feel 100 pounds lighter since I have joined this community. Sharing with you all makes living everyday life so much easier. Ive been checking out the coping and healing forums and I love them! So many great ideas and activities. I recently joined Scouts Canada as a leader and it has been a tremendous step forward in my healing. I look forward to seeing you girls around the forum!

Hi Redness,

Welcome to AS. I am sorry for the abuse you endured 5 years ago. It is never right for someone to hurt another this way. You will find tons of support here at AS. I wish you well on your journey of healing.

Welcome to AS! I am sorry for what brings you here and happy you have found it. This is a wonderful supportive site. It took me over 20 years to reach out and I’m so glad I did! You will find connections and things you can relate to and it helps me to feel less alone. You are already making great strides!

Welcome to AS @Redness I've only been here a short while, too, and have found this a very kind, supportive community already. Good on you for joining the Scouts and starting to reach out IRL, too!
