Starting To Accept

Recommended Posts

Hello! I have recently joined and am not sure how I feel still. I have just graduated college and am now finally accepting what happened to me my freshmen year. I blocked it out and only told a few people who did not believe me so I did not believe myself. Now that I am leaving my school (and the people I considered to be "friends") I am starting to come to terms that what happened was not right and that no means no. I hope that I will be able to find strength and courage from this community and begin to understand myself more and to finally begin to heal.

Hi Jersey,

Welcome to AS. Glad you have found the site. It's really hard to know exactly how you feel, but know that each and everyone here has / is going through the exact same feelings. No does mean no. It's important in your own healing to realise your own feelings and views and not to be listening to anyone else. Some people are very narrow minded. You are not alone in this struggle and we all forward to getting to know you better.

Hi Jersey,

Welcome to AS. I am sorry for the trauma that you suffered, but you have found a very supportive site. The members here are kind and understanding.  I am sorry you found no support when it first happened, and I know how memory can be a tricky thing. Either it be drugs or shock, or just the mind protecting you, memories can be repressed. I know that frustration. I am glad that you are beginning to know that no means no. It's a tough hurdle for many of us, despite being hurt like this is never our fault. I wish you well as you start your journey of healing.

Mary
