thistooshallpass4
Hi so this is my first time posting on this forum. It's been almost three years since I was raped and even though I've made lots of progress in that time, I still feel so empty and lost. I think a part of me is still struggling with accepting what happened, just having to type "since i was raped" was such a struggle and made me emotional. When I was still in college i was able to see a therapist. but after moving back home, ( where my family does not know what happened) it's been very difficult for me to meet a therapist behind their backs. On the exterior I feel like I seem normal again, but I know I'm not and I know i still have a long road to recovery. I just want to feel "normal" again and was hoping that joining a forum like this would help me with my healing. I hope that in the future I will be able to share my story. Link to post
SilentBird
Hi there "thistooshallpass4", I am glad to meet you but sorry for what brought you here. Healing almost always takes a long time and even can take years or decades. That hollowed out feeling is also one of the more common feelings, especially during the healing process when some healing has been done but more is left. It's okay to become emotional when thinking, talking or even typing about these things. I think all of us are on that journey to feel like ourselves again. It is a long road and sometimes the path seems too long. But with each step we take, the destinations gets a little closer. I also hope to one day be able to talk about what happened to me. It's that "R" word that keeps me from talking. Stay strong and remember we are here for you, to support you because you deserve it. Link to post

Tannyluck
Hi and welcome to AS! I hope you find our site supportive and informative. I think we all have times when our emotions seem to overwhelm us. Sometimes I still feel that way. Sharing your story takes tremendous courage.
