Tentative Hello...

Recommended Posts

Um I'm not really sure how to start this. I'm a 20 year old female who suffered sexual abuse from about 4-9 years old. I just disclosed in 2014 and I'm currently in a trauma focused therapy with the hope that I'll be able to move to EMDR treatment. I am having new struggles with dissociation and I have complex PTSD. Right now I think I am going to lurk around for a little while, so I can get comfortable. I just wanted to say hello, and I'm really anxious about being a member of this forum but I know it's going to be helpful! :)

Hi there Emily, it's nice to meet you and welcome to After Silence. I'm sorry for what you went through :( No child should endure such things. I am also a survivor of csa (childhood sexual abuse) and I have a dissociative disorder and c-ptsd. Lurk as long as you need to. This board is a very supportive and safe place to be. Supporting you!

Hi Emily,

Welcome to AS. i Am very sorry for the trauma that you have suffered, but please know that you have found a very supportive site. The members are wonderfully kind and understanding. Please take your time and lurk all that you care too. I started that way and it's an easier way to become comfortable. There is no rush and no judgment. I wish you well as you begin your healing journey.

Mary

Hello Emily. Welcome to AS! It is my wish that you find this site as helpful and healing as I have in my healing journey.

I am part of the NST (Newbie Support Team). What that means is that I (or any of the mods/admins/NST) can help/direct you as you learn how to use the forums. Should you have questions, feel free to send a PM to any one of the AS staff.

You've taken a huge step in reaching out. This is a big step in healing from abuse of any kind. Take all the time you need in sharing.

Sorry for what brings you here but glad you're reaching out. You're brave and strong.

Know that you are not alone.

Am listening and validating you and your experiences.

Emily,

I am doing the same thing. I am very hesitant and trying to slowly work my way in. Sometimes reading so much triggers me. But, I think learning about triggers is really the core of some of this.

thank you all for the warm welcome! I think i'm really going to benefit from AS; this seems like a pretty safe space and I think I need that. Anyone who wants to add me as a friend is more than welcome. I am not sure how often i'll be posting, but i will definitely be viewing and browsing each day. :ThankYou:
